About Me

Born in the "baby boomer" period, I have been painting throughout my life. Over the years I have worked in different studios, with various mediums and have been influenced by Old Masters, impressionist and contemporary artists in Europe and in the United States. Over the years I have worked with instructors at the Ottawa School of Art, San Francisco Art Institute and at De Anza college.

My work is in oil on canvas and the technique is based on multiple layers of color applied sometimes over periods of several weeks to deliver the vibrant colors, lights and shadows experienced in nature. My earlier work focused  on real people and landscapes from California’s rugged coast line and its rolling hills and on scenes from my travels throughout Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, and around the Mediterranean Sea. Some of my recent work explores the human figure in bold forms in the style of the Old Masters, sometimes combined with contemporary icons from the world of the arts. Through my art I attempt to celebrate the beauty of nature and the human body in both form and color.
